Iyengar Yoga Workshop Teaches Poses to Reduce Risk of Injuries
Susquehanna Yoga has designed a workshop for specifically for runners to help them reduce their risk of knee, foot and ankle injuries and help them maintain better health. Running tightens muscles so it’s not uncommon for runners to have tight hips, calves, hamstrings, Achilles tendons and feet.. Iyengar yoga with its emphasis on proper body alignment and maintaining a pose offers many benefits beyond routine stretching.
The Workshop for Runners is scheduled for 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, June 30 at Susquehanna Yoga Studio, 12 W. Aylesbury Road, Timonium, MD. The cost for the workshop is $40. To register, runners can go to www.syoga.com, or call 410-308-9950. Runners who bring a bib number from a race receive a 10 percent discount.
Suzy Pennington, founder and director of Susquehanna Yoga, will teach the workshop. She is one of two yoga instructors in Baltimore certified in Iyengar yoga. She studied in India with B.K.S. Iyengar, the yoga master who created the form of yoga bearing his name. Founded in 1996, Susquehanna Yoga was one of the first yoga studios in Baltimore. It has been honored as one of the best yoga studios in Baltimore by several local publications.
