Mindfulness Meditation

Every Sunday from 10-11 am. This session includes 15- 20 minutes of basic instruction, 15 minutes of meditation, 15 minutes of walking meditation and 15 to 20 min of seated meditation. This is a secular way to learn to meditate. Mindulness Meditation is one of the most popular types of meditation in the United States.

Bernie Simon is a Baltimore native. He works as a computer programmer at the Space Telescope Institute. He began meditating while in college after developing an interest in Buddhism and other Eastern religions. He took refuge with the Tibetan lama, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche in 1978 and studied Buddhist philosophy and meditation with him. Since then he has studied with Lama Gursam and the lamas at the Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick. He believes meditation is of great value to everyone, and works on all levels: physical and emotional well being, as well as spiritual growth.
