Film: Leap of Faith (Brochure)
Leap of Faith is the story of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar’s life. He is a Yoga master, whose name is synonymous with precision and perfection. It is a saga of courage and faith, of chance meetings on chosen paths, of perseverance in the face of insurmountable hurdles, of the triumph of the human spirit and of its union (yoga) with the divine consciousness.
Iyengar was born a sickly child which caused a stunted physical development. It wasn’t until he met a hatha-yoga teacher, who gave specific strict instructions on yoga practice, that young Iyengar began to restore his body and mind to health and steady growth.
Iyengar saw the need for expanding these great teachings to those of limited physical abilities, in order that they too could improve their physical and mental presence. He developed the system of yoga practice with a graduated progression of poses that utilizes “props” to help stabilize difficult yoga positions for those in need. Iyengar continually improved his personal skill as a yoga practitioner and as a yoga instructor to hone his system into what now is a model yoga practice for all people of varying abilities.
